Course Open - Winter Mats in Play

Men's Section

The Captain of Kendal Golf Club for the 2024 season is Simeon Barsby.

The club enjoys probably the best support for competitions of any club in the area, across not only the men’s section, but also the ladies, seniors and juniors. The men enjoy regular competitive golf, including every Saturday throughout the year, and Thursdays during the Summer months. Many of these competitions are sponsored by local businesses and members. As well as competition golf, there are many opportunities to play the golf course on a casual basis.

Whatever your level of play, you are assured of a warm welcome and the opportunity to enjoy your golf.

The Annual Match Against Windermere Golf Club

2024

To celebrate the two clubs long histories together we have an annual match between Kendal and Windermere. The clubs take it in turn to host the event. To enter you sign-up in the clubhouse and the Captain pairs his team members up to take on their opponents from Windermere. The format is better ball match-play. This is always a very friendly event and the two teams sit down to a 2 course meal together before the captains announce the winning team and who will be keeping the trophy for that season. This is always a fun day in the golfing calendar.

The Inter-Club

2024

This is an annual match between Appleby, Kendal and Windermere.

The team consists of 8 seniors, 4 vets and 4 juniors.

If you are not lucky enough to play for the team then you can make the most of the opportunity on the day and receive courtesy at either Windermere or Appleby.

The Scratch Team

2024

Kendal Golf Club enter an “A” and a “B” team into the Cumbria scratch league. The scratch teams are organised by Sam Doidge and consist of six players in each team. Welcome to our friendly Kendal Ladies Section

November 7, 2024

The Ladies Section

We enjoy our golf and time together. Regular golf is every Tuesday with competitions for all handicaps. Tees are reserved for Ladies to play from 9am onwards, then 1pm and in the summer, from 4pm. We make good use of WhatsApp groups to play socially the rest of the week.

The Ladies section has a wide range of handicaps from 10 to50, a mix of very experienced players who play at County level, and players who are new to golf - with most of us in between.

We run teams who play in 3 Leagues across the handicap range. We also enjoy friendly cup matches with local clubs - Casterton, Windermere and Appleby, qualifiers for national competitions and our own Club Championships. Our ladies section arranges to go to Opens around the Northwest, have away days and usually an overnight Sunday Driver once a year.

We are always ready to welcome new women to our club and will support you in gaining your handicap if you don’t yet have one, and will continue to support you in different types of competitions.
